Job Description

Category Schools - Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist Job Type Contract A rewarding opportunity awaits dedicated professionals skilled in supporting students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. As a full-time DHH Aide, you'll play a vital role in fostering an inclusive and accessible learning environment, working closely with educators and speech specialists to ensure all students thrive. This contract position begins August 26 and runs through June 27, offering consistent hours and the chance to make a meaningful impact during the entire academic year.
Key Qualifications:
Experience working as a Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist, Teacher for Deaf / Hard of Hearing, or Hearing Impaired Specialist Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and knowledge of assistive hearing technologies Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team A compassionate approach and a genuine passion for supporting students with hearing differences Reliability to fulfill a full-time, 37.5-hour work week throughout the school year
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide direct assistance to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing Support instructional activities under the guidance of certified staff Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and peers, utilizing ASL and other communication tools Assist teachers in preparing instructional materials and adapting classroom activities Monitor and encourage student participation, offering guidance as needed Participate in training sessions and staff meetings relevant to the role
