Job Description

Position Summary:
The Dental Assistant plays a key role in supporting the dental provider and ensuring efficient, high-quality patient care. This position is responsible for chair-side assisting, preparing patients for treatment, maintaining clinical documentation, and supporting compliance with all regulatory and FQHC requirements. The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, and patient-focused, with a strong commitment to teamwork and community health. The position will include supporting the Dentist/Dental Director with oral health assessments, preventive screenings, and patient education. As the dental program develops over the coming months, the dental assistant will assist with the launch of a comprehensive dental practice providing care for children, adults, and seniors alike.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the dentist during examinations and dental procedures Prepare treatment rooms and ensure proper sterilization of instruments Take and record patient dental histories and vitals as required Complete and maintain accurate clinical documentation and required templates Support intake processes and assist with patient flow Educate patients on oral health care and post-treatment instructions Ensure compliance with infection control, safety protocols, and FQHC standards Maintain inventory and assist with ordering dental supplies Provide support to the dental team and clinic operations as needed
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent Dental Assistant certificate or equivalent experience Certification as a Registered Dental Assistant Current CPR/BLS certification (or ability to obtain) Has obtained Radiation Safety Certificate from a Dental Board of California-approved Radiation Safety Course Knowledge of dental procedures, instruments, and infection control protocols Strong organizational and communication skills Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in a community health center or FQHC setting Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred Familiarity with electronic dental records (EDR/EHR) systems, specifically with e

$22.00 - $25.00 per hour
