Responsibilities Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to ensure optimal oral health. Assess patient oral health status through detailed examinations and document findings accurately in electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Take and develop dental radiographs (medical imaging) while adhering to strict infection control protocols and aseptic techniques. Monitor vital signs and review medical histories to support safe treatment planning, especially for pediatric dentistry and special needs patients. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote long-term dental health. Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques for efficiency and comfort. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient information and maintaining confidentiality at all times. Skills Proficiency with dental software systems such as Eaglesoft and Dentrix for scheduling, documentation review, and medical coding. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control procedures, and aseptic techniques essential for safe practice. Experience with pediatric dentistry, including working with children's unique dental needs in a compassionate manner. Ability to perform chairside assisting seamlessly during general dentistry procedures while maintaining a professional demeanor. Excellent patient care skills with the ability to assess patient needs accurately and provide clear instructions. Familiarity with EMR systems, medical records management, and documentation standards aligned with HIPAA compliance. Knowledge of medical terminology relevant to dental practice and the ability to review documentation thoroughly for accuracy.
