If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a Fine Art Framer. We are looking for a talented team member willing to grow with the job. As a Fine Art Framer, you will be responsible for expertly framing a myriad of high end custom art that enhance and protect the visual appeal of a wide range of artwork, including paintings, textiles, sports jerseys, photographs, and prints. PRIMARY FUNCTION
This position is responsible for leading fine art framing needs for local frame shop in downtown Scarsdale Village. No travel.
Your primary duties will include:
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
  • Working with our fabulous customers to select the appropriate frame, mat, and other materials to complement the artwork at the customer's preferred budget
  • Measuring, cutting, and assembling frames with precision and care
  • Matting and mounting artwork to ensure a professional, finished look
  • Communicating with customers to understand their preferences and provide recommendations
  • Maintaining a clean and organized workspace to ensure the highest quality of work
  • Creating forms for jerseys, blocking needlepoint art, stretching canvas art onto a frame.
  • Adhering to all safety protocols and procedures
  • professional knowledge of protocols for storing artwork safely
  • Assisting with special events, including acting as a viewing assistant which requires neat professional appearance and interaction with clients
  • Performing other ad-hoc duties as requested
  • Computer literacy, ability to handle transactions, and work without supervision responsibly
  • Opening, closing and running the shop without supervision and oversight
PROFESSIONAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Excellent customer service skills and 3 years' experience in an auction house, art gallery that performs framing services, or frame shop, required
  • Excellent attention to detail and an eye for design
  • Strong manual dexterity and the ability to use a variety of framing tools
  • Working knowledge of and experience with various packing methods suitable to a wide range of media, required
  • Experience with framing shop software is highly preferred.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING
  • formal Art Education, preferred
  • Bachelor of Arts, preferred
  • formal training and experience working professionally as a custom picture framer in lieu o
PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES
  • Ability to work professionally and responsibly with all other areas within the business
  • Ability to lift up to 50
  • 75 lbs.
  • Punctual and proactive with excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to deal effectively and efficiently with multiple tasks
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is undertaken in downtown Scarsdale Days and Weekend 9am-6pm work plus overtime and evenings as required Small company with a great reputation in the community. Everyone comes to Scarsdale Art & Frame!
