The Audio/Video Technician I is responsible for providing audio and visual support for college events and meetings as well as providing support for live-streaming events, and podcasts. These duties will include editing audio and video. Additionally, the Audio/Video Technician I will provide support to ITS staff for other duties such as imaging computers, moving equipment, running cable, and tracking inventory for IT devices and supplies.
Direct Supervisory Responsibility:

Two (2) years of postsecondary education from an approved U.S. Department of Education accredited institution with a minimum of 15 semester hours in audio engineering, media production, broadcasting, computer science, electronics or related area required

Set up, operate, and troubleshoot audio/visual equipment for campus events, meetings, and presentations, including microphones, speakers, projectors, and displays Provide live streaming support for campus events, ensuring reliable audio/video quality across platforms and resolving issues in real time Assist with podcast production, including microphone setup, audio capture, basic editing, and technical troubleshooting Configure and operate sound boards/mixers for live events, ensuring proper audio levels, clarity, and feedback prevention Coordinate with faculty and staff to understand event requirements and to provide appropriate A/V solutions and technical support Test presentation materials, including PowerPoint, OBS, Canva, and ProPresenter to ensure smooth delivery during meetings and events. Provide support to ITS staff for other duties such as imaging computers, moving equipment, running cable, tracking, delivering and installing inventory for IT devices and printer supplies Comply with all policies of the Alabama Community College System and the College Perform other duties as assigned

This position requires the technician to be on their feet for most of the workday. Duties involve frequent standing, walking, bending, climbing, and navigating various indoor environments to install, maintain, and repair equipment.
Equipment Handling:
Technicians must be able to carry and transport equipment and tools for extended periods throughout the day. Many tasks require moving equipment across campus sites or between work areas.
Climbing and Overhead Work:
Regular climbing of ladders is required, as well as the ability to run cabling in ceilings, crawl spaces, or other elevated or confined areas. This includes working overhead for extended periods.
Lifting:
The position requires the ability to lift, carry, and maneuver equipment, materials, and supplies weighing 50 pounds or more on a frequent basis.
Manual Dexterity:
Frequent use of hand tools, testing devices, and technology-related equipment requiring steady hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills.
Communication:
Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills are required for interacting with team members, faculty, staff, students, and vendors.
Work Environment:
Setting:
Work is performed in a variety of environments including offices, classrooms, labs, data closets, above-ceiling spaces, and other campus facilities. Some areas may be dusty, crowded, or require maneuvering around building infrastructure.
Travel:
Travel between campus locations may be required for equipment installation, troubleshooting, or project assignments.
Schedule:
This position requires a flexible work schedule to support college operations. Work hours may include days, evenings, weekends, and other non-traditional hours to provide technical support for instructional activities, campus events, technology implementations, system maintenance, and emergency response to equipment or system issues.
Interaction:
Frequent interaction with students, faculty, staff, contractors, and visitors requiring professionalism, patience, adaptability, and a customer-service-focused approach.

For all positions on all Salary Schedules, the salary amount for the selected applicant is determined by step placement on the applicable schedule.
