Job Title:
Welder/Fitter Job Description This role focuses on fitting and fabrication work in an industrial shop environment, using blueprints to assemble and prepare metal components. You will work with hand and power tools and may perform MIG welding to support production and fabrication projects. Responsibilities Read and interpret blueprints to determine measurements, layout, and assembly requirements. Fit and assemble metal components according to specifications and project drawings. Use hand and power tools safely and efficiently to cut, shape, and prepare materials. Perform MIG welding on metal parts as needed to complete assemblies and fabrication tasks. Inspect completed work to ensure it meets quality standards and dimensional tolerances. Maintain a clean and organized work area, following safety procedures and shop guidelines. Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production schedules and project deadlines. Identify and report any issues with materials, tools, or equipment to support continuous improvement. Essential Skills 13 years of fitting experience in a fabrication or industrial environment. 13 years of experience reading and working from blueprints. 13 years of experience using hand and power tools in a production or industrial setting. 13 years of experience working in an industrial environment. Ability to perform MIG welding or willingness to learn MIG welding techniques. Strong attention to detail when measuring, cutting, and assembling components. Ability to follow safety procedures and operate tools and equipment responsibly. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in a fabrication shop setting. Comfort working with various metals and materials. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Good communication skills for coordinating tasks and reporting issues. Work Environment This position is based in a nonclimate-controlled fabrication shop within an industrial facility. You will work around fabrication equipment, hand and power tools, and welding operations. The environment is active and production-oriented, with exposure to typical shop conditions such as noise and varying temperatures. Appropriate work attire and personal protective equipment are required to ensure safety and comfort on the shop floor. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Gadsden, AL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $28.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
