AV, Automation & Low Voltage Pacific Audio & Communications is hiring an experienced Technician or Lead Technician to join our Oʻahu team. We specialize in high-end residential and commercial technology systems, including audio/video, home automation, networking, lighting control, motorized shades, surveillance, security, and access control. Starting pay is $22 to $40+ per hour, based on experience. The Lead Technician is responsible for leading the field execution of assigned projects, maintaining installation quality, directing technicians, troubleshooting systems, and communicating closely with the Project Manager to keep projects moving toward completion. Responsibilities Lead technicians and installers on active projects Review project plans, scopes, wiring diagrams, elevations, and documentation before and during installation Establish daily priorities and delegate work to technicians Coordinate field activities with the Project Manager and other trades Identify installation conflicts, missing information, and material requirements Maintain PAC installation and workmanship standards Install and terminate CAT6, coax, speaker wire, fiber, control wiring, and other low-voltage cabling Build, wire, dress, label, and test equipment racks Install TVs, projectors, speakers, access points, cameras, keypads, touch panels, shades, and other system equipment Install and troubleshoot distributed audio/video systems Install and troubleshoot residential and commercial networks Assist with installation and commissioning of automation and control systems Install and support lighting control and motorized shade systems Install surveillance, access control, intercom, and security-related equipment Perform system testing and troubleshooting Verify completed work before project closeout Document completed work, deficiencies, material needs, and outstanding items Communicate field progress and issues clearly to the Project Manager Train and mentor technicians Maintain a clean, organized, and professional jobsite Take ownership of assigned projects from field start through completion Preferred Experience Experience with some of the following is preferred: Savant Control4 Crestron Lutron HomeWorks / RadioRA Araknis and Access Networks Enterprise and residential networking Sonos and distributed audio systems IP surveillance systems Access control and intercom systems Motorized shades Structured wiring Equipment rack fabrication Low-voltage troubleshooting and service Experience with every platform is not required. Strong low-voltage fundamentals, troubleshooting ability, leadership, and the ability to learn new systems are more important. Qualifications Several years of professional AV, low-voltage, automation, security, networking, telecommunications, or related field experience Previous experience leading technicians or running jobsites preferred Strong understanding of low-voltage installation and termination practices Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, wiring diagrams, and project documentation Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Ability to independently determine the next steps required to keep a project moving Ability to direct and support less-experienced technicians Strong communication and organizational skills High attention to detail and workmanship Professional conduct while working in clients' homes and businesses Valid driver's license and reliable transportation Ability to perform the physical requirements of low-voltage installation, including lifting equipment, climbing ladders, and working in ceilings and confined areas What We're Looking For We are looking for someone who can take ownership of the field side of a project. A successful Lead Technician should be able to arrive on a jobsite, review the project requirements, organize the work for the day, direct other technicians, recognize potential problems, communicate with the Project Manager, coordinate with other trades, and ensure the installation is completed cleanly and correctly. This position is best suited for an experienced technician who takes pride in their work, can troubleshoot independently, and is comfortable being responsible for the quality and progress of the team's field work.
