Overview The Residential Low-Voltage / Smart-Home Installer Service Department — Home Theater & Whole-House Audio position is responsible for the installation, program, and smart-home systems, home theaters, and whole-house lighting integration, shades, security, and entertainment system in residential homes. This is a residential-focused role, requiring finish-quality wiring, networking fundamentals, and direct homeowner communication. This position requires a strong leader and role model who works with a high level of detail, organization, and troubleshooting with a respectful, constructive, and energetic style. Core Job Responsibilities Conduct precise and efficient pulling, terminating, labeling, and testing of cables which interconnect audio, video, data, security, and control equipment. Proficiently execute tasks involving the running, fishing, and termination of low voltage wiring. Safely execute the installation of displays, mounts, speakers, cameras, and equipment, employing various methods such as in-wall installations, mounting to structures, and ceiling mounting techniques. Conduct precise and efficient pulling, terminating, labeling, and testing of cables that interconnect audio, video, data, security, and control equipment. Program and configure home automation and AV control systems (e.g., Control4, Crestron, Lutron, Savant, etc.), integrate lighting, shades, security, and entertainment systems. Provide valuable assistance in the comprehensive system commissioning process, encompassing rigorous testing, and conducting walk-through training sessions with clients. Thrives in a collaborative environment, contributing ideas and expertise while effectively partnering with cross-functional teams. Ensure the upkeep of fleet vehicles, stock inventory, and adhere to scheduled maintenance tasks as required. Proficiently assess and execute troubleshooting procedures for AV systems, data infrastructure, security systems, and control systems. Actively engage in the on-call service rotation on an as-needed basis. Required Qualifications Education - High School Diploma or equivalent experience Minimum 5 years of residential low-voltage AV / smart-home / structured-cabling installation experience (pre-wire to finish). Demonstrated experience with home theater and whole-house audio/video installations. Proficiency in at least one major home automation/control system: Control4, Crestron, Lutron, Savant, or similar. Ability to run and terminate wiring (Cat5/6, coax, HDMI, speaker wire), mount equipment, and work on ladders. Certification preferred from industry vendors or trade groups (Control4, Crestron, Savant, Lutron, CEDIA, AVIXA, etc.) Physical Requirements Operate a motor vehicle Operate construction tools including ladders, hand drills, reciprocating saws, hammer, tack hammer, various hand saws, as well as various Audio/Visual hand tools including wire strippers, cutters, low voltage meter in a safe manner in accordance with OSHA regulation Stand or walk 70% and sit 30% of the time Lift and carry up to 75 lbs.
