This role supports worship services, rehearsals, ministry programs, meetings, special events, livestreams, recordings, media productions, and installations, and represents the Audio-Visual Ministry professionally when working with staff, volunteers, members, guests, contractors, musicians, presenters, and ministry leaders. Knowledge Audio:
Digital audio consoles; audio signal flow; gain structure; microphones; wireless/RF systems; in-ear monitoring; processing; loudspeakers; multitrack recording.
Video & Broadcast:
Professional cameras and PTZ systems; video switching/routing; recording;
SDI/HDMI
distribution; signal conversion; livestream production; camera configuration and basic matching; broadcast monitoring.
Production & Post-Production :
Professional nonlinear editing software; media ingest and organization; basic editing, color correction, audio post-production, titles/graphics, export/encoding, delivery and archiving; basic lighting and production audio. Presentation /
AV-IT :
ProPresenter or comparable software; projectors, LED/professional displays and confidence monitors; basic Ethernet/IP networking, networked AV, Audio-over-IP/Dante, AV-device configuration, computer troubleshooting, and software/firmware management. RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES/FUNCTIONS
AUDIO
SYSTEMS & LIVE SOUND
Set up, configure, and operate digital audio consoles, microphones, wireless/RF systems, in-ear monitoring, stage inputs, playback, recording, and related audio equipment for services, rehearsals, meetings, and events. Perform line/sound checks, routing, gain staging, patching, and basic system configuration; mix or support front-of-house, broadcast, monitor, recording, and other assigned audio feeds. Monitor audio quality and troubleshoot microphones, wireless systems, consoles, stage boxes, cabling, loudspeakers, amplifiers, monitors, and signal paths.
VIDEO, BROADCAST & PRESENTATION SYSTEMS
Operate professional cameras/PTZ systems, video switchers, routers, recorders, converters, monitoring systems, ProPresenter, displays, and related production equipment. Configure camera framing, focus, exposure, white balance, resolution, frame rate, and other fundamental settings; operate or support live switching, recording, playback, livestreaming, and content distribution. Monitor and troubleshoot video/presentation feeds and signal paths, including common SDI, HDMI, IP, conversion, routing, synchronization, computer, and display issues.
VIDEO PRODUCTION & POST-PRODUCTION
Set up and operate cameras, lighting, and related equipment for interviews, announcements, ministry programs, promotional content, testimonials, training materials, and other recorded productions. Perform routine editing and media finishing using approved nonlinear editing software, including cuts, transitions, titles/graphics, music, basic color/audio adjustments, export, encoding, delivery, and archiving.
NETWORKED AV, SYSTEM SETUP & TROUBLESHOOTING
Support AV devices on church data and dedicated AV networks; use manufacturer/industry software to identify devices, verify routing, and troubleshoot networked AV systems while following established network, cybersecurity, account-access, and configuration procedures. Perform pre-service/event checks and set up, test, configure, calibrate, and strike AV equipment; trace audio, video, data, and control paths and perform authorized basic maintenance or minor repairs. Assist qualified staff, contractors, or integrators with installations, upgrades, commissioning, and testing.
LIVE PRODUCTION, EQUIPMENT & VOLUNTEER SUPPORT
Serve in assigned technical positions for Sunday worship, rehearsals, ministry programs, funerals, weddings, conferences, special services, and other events; review requirements, prepare production spaces, and coordinate technical cues with ministry and production personnel. Inspect, properly handle, store, label, protect, and track AV equipment; report damaged, missing, failing, or unreliable equipment; recommend repair/replacement needs and maintain assigned technical documentation. Work collaboratively with AV Ministry volunteers, provide hands-on instruction and technical direction within demonstrated competency, reinforce established procedures/standards, and communicate training needs to AV leadership.
QUALIFICATIONS & MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Preferred Qualifications Associate or bachelor's degree in audiovisual technology, broadcast/media production, audio engineering, information technology, electronics, communications, or a related discipline. Two or more years of professional or substantial hands-on AV/live-production experience, specifically in a house-of-worship environment. Experience with professional digital audio consoles, broadcast/video systems, professional video-editing software, networked AV, and Dante. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent and demonstrated hands-on experience with professional audiovisual, broadcast, live-production, theatrical, worship-production, or comparable technical systems. Working understanding of audio/video signal flow; ability to operate and troubleshoot professional AV equipment; basic understanding of computer networking for modern AV systems; and basic competency in video recording/post-production. Ability to learn and safely operate church AV systems following appropriate training. Equivalent combinations of professional experience, technical education, military technical training, industry certification, apprenticeship, and substantial hands-on experience may be considered.
