Job Description
AV Installation Technician About the Role Our client is seeking a hands-on, reliable Installation Technician to join their installation department The Installation Technician supports all stages of the installation process - including prepping equipment, loading and unloading trucks, on-site installation, and de-prepping gear upon return. This role is ideal for individuals who have foundational knowledge of lighting, audio, video, rigging, or electrical systems and are eager to build their skills within a professional AVL environment. We are willing to train the right candidate, and compensation will align with experience. This is a travel-intensive position requiring overnight, out-of-town work and occasional night shifts. Some job sites may be active construction locations without permanent restroom facilities. Key Responsibilities
- Assist with permanent installation of sound, lighting, video, and rigging systems in live performance and entertainment spaces.
- Prep equipment, stage materials, and load trucks at the shop prior to installation.
- Work on-site to install equipment, run cable, mount hardware, and support technicians and project leads.
- Safely deprep and return equipment to the shop following project completion.
- Follow project timelines and on-site direction to ensure high-quality installation work.
- Maintain a clean, organized work area both in the shop and on job sites.
- Represent the company professionally while working with venue staff, contractors, and clients.
- Adhere to safety practices and guidelines, especially on construction sites.
- Participate in overnight travel and work evening hours as needed based on project schedules. Required Skills & Qualifications
- Excellent punctuality - will show up on time, ready to work, consistently.
- Strong ability to work well with co-workers, clients, and project teams.
- Demonstrated responsibility and independence, especially when traveling for work.
- Familiarity with at least one of the following: o Lighting systems o Audio systems o Video systems o Rigging systems o Electrical work on construction sites
- Willingness to learn and be trained in AVL installation methods.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move equipment and tools as required.
- Ability to work in environments without permanent restroom facilities. Preferred Experience
- Prior experience supporting AVL installations or production.
- Experience working with hand tools, power tools, or construction equipment.
- Basic understanding of construction drawings or signal flow diagrams.
- General troubleshooting ability in technical environments. Work Environment & Schedule
- Primarily on-site installation work at client locations.
- Frequent overnight, out-of-town travel required.
- Work may include night shifts, depending on project needs.
- Some work performed on active construction sites.
- Shop-based work includes prepping and de-prepping equipment. Compensation
- Pay is experience-based and scaled according to the candidate's current knowledge of lighting, audio, video, rigging, or electrical systems.
- Training provided for candidates eager to grow within the AVL installation field.
