Media Authoring Specialist Location:

Minneapolis, MN Role Overview:

We are seeking a Media Authoring Specialist responsible for creating high-quality DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K UHD masters from source files. This role requires technical expertise in disc authoring, menu design, and mastering workflows, as well as the ability to coordinate with internal creative and production teams.

Key Responsibilities Author and Master Disc Formats:

Create DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K UHD masters using industry-standard software (Scenarist) and workflows including international versioning (foreign menus, transmaps, and censorship submissions).

Menu Design & Navigation:

Develop/create still and video/motion interactive menus, ensuring seamless user experiences.

Quality Control & Compliance:

Verify final outputs for technical accuracy, adherence to specifications, and compliance with industry standards.

Source & Integrate Components:

Work with internal teams and external teams to gather and implement creative assets, including subtitles, closed captions, audio tracks, and metadata.

Maintain Workflow Efficiency:

Streamline authoring and mastering processes to meet deadlines and ensure on-time delivery.

Troubleshooting & Problem-Solving:

Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to disc authoring, playback, and encoding.

Collaboration & Documentation:

Maintain clear communication with stakeholders and document workflow procedures for future reference.

Qualifications & Experience Required:

3+ years of experience in media authoring, post-production, or related field. Proficiency in disc authoring software (e.g., Scenarist, Adobe Encore, Blu-Print, or similar). Strong understanding of video encoding, compression, and transcoding techniques. Experience with menu design, navigation structures, and interactive features. Knowledge of industry standards for DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K UHD production. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred:

Experience working with Dolby Vision, HDR, and multi-channel audio formats. Familiarity with scripting languages for interactive media (e.g., JavaScript, BD-J). Knowledge of digital distribution workflows in addition to physical media. Strong organizational and communication skills. Why Join Us?
