An Observatory Museum Guide:
  • Interpret astronomical information for the general public
  • Explains and safeguards exhibits related to observing, astronomy and related sciences and answers questions related to the Observatory, astronomy, space and related sciences.
  • May be asked to run equipment in the Leonard Nimoy Event Horizon Theater, and to start, stop, and introduce video programs in the theater.
  • May provide astronomical information to, leads tours for, and provide presentations to school students participating in the Observatory's school programs.
  • Helps facilitate a pleasant, engaging, inspiring and accessible visit for all guests.
Qualifications:
  • Have completed 12 semester units or 18 quarter units in recognized college or university in the preferred fields of astronomy, astrophysics, physics, chemistry, geology, or biology. Units in architecture, history, zoology or related fields may be considered.
  • Six months experience performing work in the above fields may be substituted for the required educations.
