Job Description

The Utica Comets and Utica City FC are welcoming applications to fill a Game Presentation Internship position for the 2026-27 season.
Internship Terms:
Fall (September
  • December), Spring (January
  • April/May), and Season-Long (September

Approx. 20 hours/week Supervised by the Director of Game Presentation & Partnership Activation, interns will play a role in creating a fun and exciting atmosphere for Utica Comets and Utica City FC home games at NBT Bank Arena. Through this internship, participants will gain hands-on experience assisting in the development, planning, and execution of marketing initiatives and in-arena presentation. This is an unpaid internship. Participants may qualify for academic credit if allowed by their college or university.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Support the preparation and implementation of gameday activities, production elements (audio, visual, interactive), promotional activations, and group experiences for Utica Comets and Utica City FC home games, as directed by the Director of Game Presentation & Partnership Activation. Contribute to the development of run-of-show documents, such as game scripts and PA reads. Provide gameday support to staff, ice crew, and performers, as requested. Assist mascot performer(s) to fulfill scheduled gameday appearances and promotional activations. Promote a positive fan environment as a representative of the Comets and UCFC by interacting with fans, VIPs, performers, and various stakeholders. Work with staff to conceptualize and develop new fan engagement opportunities. Research and present ideas to enhance in-arena presentation and game-specific theme nights. Aid other departments with gameday initiatives, as needed. Additional duties and special projects as assigned.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
From this internship, participants will be able to take away the following skills and lessons and apply it in future roles: Understand the process of planning, executing, and evaluating a live event in the sports industry. Become familiar with run-of-show documents; how to interpret and utilize during the execution of live events. Act as a front-facing member of a professional sports organization, engaging positively and professionally to a wide-range of stakeholders. Collaborate with a diverse group of individuals in a professional sports environment to navigate ever-changing conditions and successfully accomplish tasks.
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and project management skills. Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Applications, specifically Excel and Word. Can maintain a high level of professionalism within a professional sports environment. Ability to adapt to changing game situations and can complete projects under tight deadlines. Ability to stand and/or sit for extended periods of time; can lift up to 30 lb. Must have a flexible schedule to allow commitment to a majority of Utica Comets and Utica City FC home games during their internship term. Interested applicants must be willing and able to work non-traditional hours in non-traditional settings during peak times of the year. Intern will be responsible for their own housing, food, and transportation to and from NBT Bank Arena. Reimbursement for travel, gas, lodging, etc. is not offered with this internship.
