Full Job Description Job Summary:
Under the direction of the News Editor, the Universal Desk Editor will fulfill editing and/or production duties for The Gazette and other Clarity publications. Additional newsroom duties may be assigned pending operational needs. This is a part-time position. Shift may include weekends, nights and holidays.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Edit content for The Gazette and other Clarity publications as assigned. Ensure that all Gazette journalism standards are followed, including accuracy, fairness and style. Work with reporters and other journalists in producing credible and compelling content. Assist in the planning and production of digital, print and other news products. Consistently meet deadlines. Assist in pagination and other production duties as assigned or warranted.

Minimum Education & Work Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's degree. At least 5 years of daily news experience is preferred. In-depth knowledge of sports and proficiency in sports news production Proficiency in editing and presentation. Proficiency in digital journalism. Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively. Intermediate or higher computer skills. Ability to apply effective time management and self-management skills in a busy work environment; ability to meet deadlines despite regular interruptions and deadline pressure. Must be highly detail-oriented and meticulous. Must be able to multitask, balance priorities and work independently. Strong verbal and written communications skills. Must be committed to teamwork and able to collaborate well with employees within the features team and the overall newsroom.
