This role blends creative leadership with operational precision—ideal for an editor who thrives on building streamlined systems, motivating teams, and maintaining excellence from planning to publication. Responsibilities Oversee the full editorial production process from concept through publication across print, digital, and custom projects, ensuring deadlines, budgets, and quality standards are met. Develop and manage editorial calendars, lineups, and workflows in collaboration with the Editor-in-Chief, art, digital, and sales teams. Research, write, and edit compelling feature stories, departments, and branded content; review and refine in-house and freelance copy through final proofing. Direct and support freelance and vendor relationships, managing contracts, invoices, and assignments with clear communication and fiscal responsibility. Lead team meetings, coordinate production schedules, and serve as the primary liaison between editorial and external stakeholders to maintain smooth, efficient collaboration. Contribute to editorial planning and strategy, aligning content with brand voice and audience engagement goals across all platforms. Represent the brand at events, industry functions, and FAM trips as needed while staying current on trends and opportunities within assigned markets. Qualifications/Requirements Bachelor's degree in Journalism or related field required. Minimum of 5 years working for a publishing company or content development/management team in an editorial role. Requires a wide range of creative intellect and sharp editorial judgment. Must have a strong command of consumer, marketplace, and industry trends with demonstrated expertise in leveraging that information to drive change in content approaches. Proven "editorial" judgment with a commitment to accuracy, fairness, and balance. Commitment to public service journalism/content creation. Superior written communication and editing skills. Demonstrated leadership as a skilled manager. Ability to prioritize work, make decisions, and work productively in a fast-paced media environment. Proven ability to motivate, train, and grow employees and build high-performing teams. Significant experience in digital content production. Strong strategic and analytical skills and the ability to think critically and deliver recommendations. Proven ability to work well with others both to complete projects and build working relationships. Fluency in common web publishing platforms (CMS, blogging, forums, etc.) and social media. Excellent project management kills. Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Familiarity of web analytics. Familiarity of Adobe Creative Cloud products, including InDesign.
