Job Description

Sports Editor The Grundy Register & Butler County Eclipse Do you love high school sports? Want to cover some of the best athletic programs in the state of Iowa? The Grundy Register and Butler County Eclipse are looking for a Sports Editor to lead our local sports coverage across Grundy and Butler counties. In this role, you'll cover Friday night lights, state championship contenders, standout student-athletes, coaches, and the stories that make small-town sports special. Responsibilities include writing game stories, feature articles, taking photos when needed, maintaining strong relationships with coaches and athletic directors, and helping deliver timely coverage both in print and online. Experience in sports writing or journalism is preferred, but it isn't required. If you have a passion for athletics, strong writing skills, a willingness to learn, and the drive to become an outstanding journalist, we'll provide the training and mentorship to help you succeed.
