Opportunity:

This is a full-time writing support role on a small team delivering the full range of services on high-stakes nonfiction books for elite clients. You will manage hundreds of pages of transcripts and source material; draft content quickly without losing quality ( without AI ); and maintain organizational systems ( with AI ) for veteran ghostwriter Erin Vargo and the publishing experts on my team. One of my publishing consultants led the team that published a book for one of the First Ladies. Another is an Ivy League professor with publishing credentials whose own book was highlighted in The New York Times in the past week. I work directly with literary agents in New York and take clients from seed to shelf. The bulk of my clients are public figures, civil servants, successful entrepreneurs and business leaders, and other white-collar professionals. You do not need prior experience as a professional ghostwriter, although that helps. You do need some experience writing or organizing long-form content. You must be extremely organized, obsessive with detail, fast, and calm under pressure. The pace is intense and deadline-driven, similar to a newsroom with both weekly and nightly deliverables required. Weekly meetings are required (in person). Most of the work is remote and highly flexible — most suitable for a high-functioning creative who craves plenty of solitude combined with regular in-person collaboration, deep work, and high pay.

Writers who can turn messy raw material into clean long-form rough drafts — emphasis on long ; you may draft tens of thousands of words in a week Project managers who can organize hundreds of hours of content and hundreds of pages of transcripts, while retaining the ability to recall detail and spot overarching themes Fast, precise operators who catch errors immediately; extreme focus is critical Consummate professionals who can support multiple projects at once under intense pressure Austin locals are most preferred; New York and Los Angeles will be given special consideration (relocation may be discussed for an exceptional candidate) What you will do: Support a veteran ghostwriter and other senior partners operating at the highest levels of publishing Ingest, tag, and organize interview transcripts and research files (using AI for organization) Produce rough drafts of chapters, sections, summaries, and supporting copy (without AI) Track versions, quotes, facts, and open questions across live manuscripts Manage materials closely so the team can move without friction Keep pace on a team already in production

Compensation and Conditions:

$1,250 per week starting stipend for the initial 90-day probationary period, with the option to negotiate six figures, assuming output is both highly efficient and of exceptional quality. This is remote-first with flexible hours and weekly meetings — a rare on-ramp into a top-tier publishing role not requiring previous experience.
