SUMMARY:
The Cataloger - Entertainment researches and writes accurate, engaging catalog descriptions for music and entertainment memorabilia. Working closely with Consignment Directors, this role identifies items, documents condition, research provenance, and develops narratives that communicate each item's history and significance. The ideal candidate brings strong research and writing skills, attention to detail, and a passion for entertainment history.
LOCATION
South of Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, at the northwest corner of W. Airport Freeway (Hwy. 183) and Valley View Lane.
SCHEDULE
: This is a fulltime onsite position with overtime opportunities available

COMPENSATION
: Commensurate with experience.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Research, identify, and catalog music and entertainment memorabilia, verifying relevant historical details and supporting documentation.
  • Write clear, compelling catalog descriptions that convey each item's significance, provenance, and distinguishing features.
  • Examine items and prepare accurate, concise condition reports.
  • Collaborate with Consignment Directors to develop detailed narratives and catalog essays for featured items.
  • Support authentication efforts by gathering research, reviewing documentation, and coordinating with department specialists.
  • Respond professionally to client inquiries regarding cataloged items, condition, and historical context.
  • Proofread and edit catalog entries and essays for accuracy, clarity, consistency, and grammar.
  • Assist with catalog production and coordinate with Marketing to support auction promotion.
  • Participate in auction previews and auctions, providing item information and assisting clients and colleagues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned Requirements
SKILLS & ABILITIES
  • Strong research, writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Knowledge of or a strong interest in music and entertainment history and memorabilia.
  • Excellent attention to detail when examining objects, verifying information, and preparing catalog entries.
  • Ability to translate research into engaging, accessible descriptions for a collector audience.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet auction deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Professional communication and customer service skills.
  • A positive, collaborative approach and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Fast-paced, team-oriented environment with deadline-driven auction schedules.
  • Ability to safely handle and move items weighing up to 40 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
