This is a hands-on floral design role for someone who can produce exceptional work while leading the daily production team. The Lead Floral Designer ensures every arrangement reflects French Florist standards for quality, creativity, consistency, and craftsmanship. This person prioritizes production around delivery routes, pickup times, events, and customer commitments while coaching Designers to improve speed, technique, and consistency. What You'll Do
  • Own the quality and consistency of every floral arrangement leaving the boutique.
  • Create premium everyday, custom, sympathy, event, and special-occasion floral designs.
  • Ensure designs follow French Florist recipes, product photography, brand standards, mechanics, and presentation expectations.
  • Serve as the final quality-control checkpoint before arrangements move to pickup or delivery.
  • Own the daily floral production schedule and prioritize work based on delivery routes, event timelines, pickup times, and customer commitments.
  • Assign orders among Designers based on skill level, workload, urgency, and production needs.
  • Monitor production throughout the day and adjust priorities as new orders, substitutions, or delivery changes occur.
  • Work alongside the design team during high-volume periods to maintain quality, speed, and on-time completion.
  • Lead onboarding and technical training for Designers, including recipes, floral mechanics, processing, flower care, and design techniques.
  • Provide clear, ongoing coaching to improve craftsmanship, consistency, efficiency, and confidence.
  • Conduct design demonstrations and support continuous skills development across the team.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, stocked, and production-ready design floor.
  • Monitor floral freshness and quality, communicate shortages or concerns, and recommend substitutions that preserve design integrity.
  • Support inventory counts and waste tracking by communicating floral usage, spoilage, and product needs.
  • Partner closely with the Floral Boutique Manager on production status, staffing needs, delivery timing, substitutions, and customer expectations. What We're Looking For
  • Professional floral design experience with a strong understanding of composition, mechanics, color, proportion, flower care, and product handling.
  • Demonstrated ability to create polished everyday, custom, sympathy, premium, and event floral designs.
  • Experience working from recipes, inspiration photos, or brand standards while maintaining consistency across multiple Designers.
  • Strong production planning and time-management skills in a fast-paced, deadline-driven floral environment.
  • Leadership, training, or mentoring experience with the ability to give direct and constructive feedback.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a consistent commitment to quality control.
  • Strong communication and collaboration with operations, customer service, and delivery teams.
  • The ability to remain organized and adjust priorities quickly during holidays, events, and high-volume production periods. Preferred Application Materials
  • A portfolio or photos of recent floral work that demonstrate range, mechanics, and overall design quality.
  • Examples of premium, sympathy, event, or custom floral designs are especially helpful. How Success Will Be Measured
  • Consistent floral design quality and adherence to brand standards.
  • On-time completion of all daily production priorities.
  • Accurate execution of recipes, custom orders, and customer requests.
  • Designer development, stronger technical skills, and improved production consistency.
  • Efficient workflow, productive labor use, and minimal production bottlenecks.
  • A clean, organized, and fully prepared design environment.
  • Minimal design-related customer issues, remakes, or quality concerns.
  • Positive collaboration with the Floral Boutique Manager and customer experience team.
