Position Overview We are seeking an experienced and driven Lead Floral Designer to join our team. This role is ideal for a confident floral designer who has a strong design foundation, thrives in the fast-paced wedding and event industry, and is comfortable taking ownership of both the creative and logistical aspects of an event. The Lead Floral Designer will play a key role in floral design, client sales, event leadership, and installation execution. Unlike an entry-level or training position, this role requires prior professional floral experience and the ability to work independently while maintaining the design standards and aesthetic of Stems Floral Design. The ideal candidate is creative, organized, personable, detail-oriented, and equally comfortable designing in the studio, communicating with clients, and leading a team through a large-scale event installation. Key Responsibilities Guide clients through the floral design and sales process, from initial inquiry and consultation through proposal, revisions, and contract. Create thoughtful floral concepts and proposals that align with each client's vision, venue, budget, and the Stems aesthetic. Design wedding and event florals to a consistently high standard, including personal flowers, centerpieces, ceremony designs, and large-scale installations. Lead and oversee wedding and event installations, directing team members and ensuring designs are executed accurately, efficiently, and beautifully. Manage event-day floral logistics, including loading, transportation, installation, room flips, strike, and communication with planners and venue teams. Collaborate with the Owner & Founder on creative direction, event design, production planning, and overall studio standards. Participate in client mock-ups, mood boards, floral recipes, stem counts, design research, and proposal development. Provide direction and support to junior designers, freelancers, and installation team members when appropriate. Assist with everyday studio production and operations as needed. Serve as a strong representative of Stems Floral Design, maintaining our standards for professionalism, exceptional customer service, attention to detail, and white-glove execution. Qualifications Minimum 2 years of professional floral design experience required, preferably within weddings, events, or a luxury floral studio. Strong floral design skills with an understanding of mechanics, scale, color, texture, and composition. Experience executing wedding and event florals, including larger installations. Comfortable leading event installations and directing a team in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication skills and confidence interacting directly with clients, planners, venues, and vendors. Sales, proposal writing, and client consultation experience is strongly preferred. Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple events and deadlines. Self-motivated and able to take initiative and work independently without extensive oversight. Calm, solutions-oriented, and efficient under pressure. Flexible schedule with weekend availability required for weddings and events. Able to perform the physical requirements of event floral work, including extended periods on your feet and lifting/carrying floral arrangements, vessels, and event materials. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Compensation:

Starting at $60,000 through a combination of base salary + sales commission, with overall salary determined by experience. This position is structured with a competitive base salary plus commission on sales, giving the Lead Floral Designer the opportunity to increase overall compensation as they take ownership of client relationships and contribute to the growth of Stems Floral Design. The starting salary is $60,000 annually, with flexibility for a higher offer depending on the candidate's floral design experience, wedding and event expertise, sales background, leadership experience, and ability to independently manage clients and events.
