(FRESNO COUNTY):ABOUT US
Mineral King Publishing, Inc. (MKP) is an independently owned newspaper and printing company in California's San Joaquin Valley, but specifically in Fresno and Tulare County. MKP prints its own newspapers, The Sun-Gazette, Mid Valley Times, The Kerman News, Firebaugh-Mendota Journal and West Side Advance - which cover Fresno and Tulare Counties, as well as printing other Valley publications from school handbooks to niche monthly newspapers. MKP's graphics department is currently made up of a production manager, an online designer and a graphic designer.DESCRIPTION
: MKP runs a manual printing press with four-color capabilities on newsprint of various sizes and folds. The graphics department's job is to create ads and layouts for some of these projects as well as our own products, ensure PDFs are prepared for the printing press for all print products, update logos, promotional items and other branding for the Mineral King Publishing and its products. The graphics department works from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The graphic designer's job is primarily to layout newspaper products, build newspaper ads, and prepare PDF files for the printing press to ensure photos are toned properly, ensure color will separate correctly, identify overlapping or missing text or artwork, and ensure files are not corrupted.EXPECTATIONS
: It is expected that this person be a team player and be able to take instruction from others and step up when others are on leave.Other expectations are as follows:
- Must have a working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite products, specifically InDesign, Photoshop, Acrobat and Illustrator;
- Must have a working knowledge of Google and Microsoft Office products, such as Google/Word Docs, Sheets/Excel, Meet/Teams, Slides/Power Point, etc;
- Must be willing to take direction from supervisors;
- Must be comfortable using PC work stations;
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
A high school diploma or GED is required. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite products is required. Experience with the following is preferred:- Preferred experience designing digital and print media products;
- Preferred experience creating digital and print media advertisements;
- Preferred experience in mechanical-related fields.
