Position Summary :
Join our collaborative product development team as a Product Design Engineer II to develop and support Iwaki Aquatic's product line. Tackling unique engineering challenges that require creative problem-solving, you'll architect, design, develop, test, and launch new products with mechanical, electrical, and logic subsystems. You'll also drive continuous improvement of existing products through innovative solutions and propagate best practices through the product line. This is a great opportunity to develop new and innovative products and learn a variety of skills, technologies, and methodologies as part of a product development team.
Key Responsibilities & Required Functions:
Engineer configurable product architectures that solve complex customer challenges while maintaining manufacturing efficiency in our agile, low-volume, high-mix production environment Create modular design solutions and standardized component libraries that enable rapid customization - turning diverse customer needs into elegant, manufacturable products where no two products are exactly alike Develop comprehensive engineering documentation including theory of operation, functional specifications, system architecture, P&ID, process flow diagrams, and component specifications across product variants Design and manage creative solutions from concept to production using SolidWorks and PDM systems, balancing innovation with manufacturing practicality in a fast-paced environment where you can see your designs quickly move from concept to customer applications Follow established ISO protocols and engineering change management processes for product development Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Marketing, Manufacturing, Sales, and Service to translate unique customer requirements into solutions in a team environment that values creative approaches Drive continuous improvement of existing products through impactful enhancements, addressing feedback from manufacturing, sales, and service teams Utilize prototyping tools including 3D printing and CNC machining for rapid product development cycles Drive R&D initiatives including design, prototyping, and feasibility studies for emerging products and technologies Design and conduct comprehensive product testing and validation to ensure performance and reliability Communicate technical solutions and project progress effectively across all organizational levels Manage concurrent projects with varying timelines and requirements while identifying opportunities for process improvement
Essential Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field 3-5 years of product design experience, ideally with exposure to configurable or modular design approaches Proficiency with SolidWorks, PDM Creative systems thinking approach with strong attention to detail and ability to think abstractly about design problems—essential for developing scalable solutions that can handle high variation and configuration rather than single use solutions Collaborative team player who thrives on variety and takes initiative to drive ideas to successful completion Understanding of product development processes and experience with optimizations for cost, reliability, and manufacturability in low-volume, high-mix environments Experience developing electromechanical solutions within technical and business constraints using simulation, analysis, prototyping, and testing Systems engineering experience including specification writing, analysis, design, and documentation for configurable products in regulated environments, managing engineering changes and maintaining design control throughout the product lifecycle

Pay:
$85,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
