Job Description
Chief Product Engineer Summary Designs, develops, and improves new and existing company products. Works from customer requirements, specifications, and engineering standards to develop product designs using CAD software, engineering principles, and technical analysis. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Design company products using SolidWorks or other engineering software. Create engineering drawings for customer proposals and manufacturing. Develop bills of materials (BOMs) and routings for cost estimation and manufacturing. Ensure customer requirements are met through product design, validation testing, and failure analysis. Perform the Lead Engineer role for assigned sales orders, including customer interaction, vendor communication, and project management as required. Procure materials needed to construct prototypes and support the engineering design of new products. Plan and develop prototype testing programs. Analyze test data and results to verify designs meet functional and performance specifications. Analyze, evaluate, and recommend cost improvement opportunities through product, vendor, and design changes. Perform technical analysis of competitive products. Provide support to sales and marketing through product presentations and customer support activities. Perform other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities. However, individuals in this role may assign projects, establish design expectations, and perform other activities necessary to ensure consistency and standardization within the engineering department. Qualifications Demonstrated professionalism, leadership, and management skills. Industry knowledge related to the application and use of company products. Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Ability to solve problems and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders. Ability to work in and promote an environment of teamwork and mutual respect. Proficiency with SolidWorks CAD software. Ability to work independently. Ability to perform engineering calculations using software tools or manual methods. Experience with material handling, conveyor systems, and equipment design is preferred. Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline required. Ten (10) to fifteen (15) years of experience in material handling, conveyor systems, or related equipment design. Language Skills Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively present information to customers and employees. Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and electrical schematics. Mathematical Skills Proficient in algebra and geometry as required to solve engineering problems. Computer Skills Proficient with SolidWorks for product design and detailing. Proficient with Microsoft Office applications. Ability to navigate and effectively utilize the company's ERP software. Experience with additional 2D and 3D CAD software is a plus.
