The Lead Technical Designer owns fit, construction, and technical execution from concept through commercialization and production for assigned apparel styles, with a strong focus on outerwear. This role ensures on time delivery aligned to product specifications, performance, sustainability, and profitability goals. Acting as a technical authority, the Lead Technical Designer drives fit and construction standards, supports cross functional partners, and serves as a technical resource across the product creation process. The Basics
Duration:
6 month assignment Hours per week: Full time, approximately 40 hours per week Location requirements: Onsite in Beverton, OR. Can work remotely on Fridays. Top Three Required Qualifications 8+ years of technical design experience in the apparel industry, including end to end product development and commercialization Strong pattern making experience with deep expertise in outerwear construction and fit Proficiency using Adobe Illustrator, CAD pattern design software such as Optitex, and 3D software such as Clo or Browzwear Other Qualifications Associate or Bachelor degree in apparel design, textile science, or a related field, or equivalent professional product creation experience Expertise in writing detailed product specifications, construction standards, and technical documentation Strong problem solving, organization, and communication skills Demonstrated ability to interpret design intent, propose alternative solutions, and improve manufacturability with factory partners Ability to manage multiple projects and meet critical development milestones Proficiency with MS Office tools Flexible, self starter mindset with the ability to work cross functionally Ability to travel up to 10 percent, including domestic and international travel, if required Key Responsibilities Own fit, construction, and technical execution for assigned styles from initial concept through production Create, maintain, and revise tech packs, product specifications, and prototype documentation Lead and execute fit and construction standards to ensure consistency across product or team scope Track and facilitate prototyping, identifying and resolving construction and manufacturing challenges Collaborate with design, product management, materials, manufacturing partners, and product creation teams to meet product and fit goals Monitor product testing progress and communicate risks, challenges, and solutions to ensure product integrity Apply market trends, consumer insights, and new technologies to inform technical decisions Act as a technical resource and mentor, supporting initiatives through positive influence and leadership In this position, you may have access to client or customer systems, confidential and/or proprietary information or data. This position is onsite and requires you to work closely with other individuals in a collaborative team environment.
