Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Lead Interior Designer to lead residential design projects from concept through installation while delivering an exceptional client experience. This role is ideal for a designer who combines creative vision, technical expertise, project leadership, and strong client relationship skills . As the primary design lead, you will collaborate closely with clients, contractors, architects, consultants, and vendors to bring thoughtfully designed spaces to life. The ideal candidate is confident leading client presentations, highly organized, detail-oriented, technically proficient, and passionate about creating beautiful, functional, and highly considered interiors. Key Responsibilities Design Leadership Lead residential design projects from initial concept through final installation. Develop space plans, finish palettes, furnishings, lighting plans, architectural details, and overall design concepts. Create polished design presentations using mood boards, material palettes, drawings, renderings, and other visual tools. Maintain design consistency, quality, and attention to detail throughout every phase of a project. Client & Project Leadership Serve as the primary design contact for clients throughout the project. Lead client meetings, presentations, selections, and design decisions with confidence and professionalism. Build strong client relationships while guiding decisions, communicating expectations, and maintaining project momentum. Manage multiple residential projects, schedules, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously. Coordinate with architects, contractors, consultants, vendors, and trade partners to support successful project execution. Technical & Construction Coordination Produce and review detailed construction drawings, specifications, and design documentation using SketchUp. Maintain accurate project documentation to support construction, purchasing, and installation. Conduct site visits and attend project meetings to review progress, answer design questions, and address field conditions. Ensure installations align with approved design intent and Haven Design standards. Studio Leadership Mentor and support junior designers and contribute to a collaborative studio culture. Help establish and refine design standards, workflows, templates, and best practices. Contribute ideas and expertise as Haven Design continues to develop its services, processes, and portfolio. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in interior design preferred. 5+ years of professional interior design experience, with luxury residential experience preferred. Strong portfolio demonstrating both creative vision and technical proficiency. Proficiency in SketchUp required. Strong knowledge of residential interiors, materials, furnishings, finishes, and construction documentation. Excellent verbal, written, organizational, and presentation skills. Experience independently leading client meetings and residential design projects. Strong project-management and time-management skills. Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. Highly detail-oriented with a commitment to design excellence. Self-motivated, collaborative, resourceful, and adaptable.
Compensation Base Salary:
$40,000-$45,000 annually, based on experience. This position includes a performance-based compensation structure with uncapped commission opportunities tied to project sales and design revenue. Our Lead Interior Designers earn an average total compensation of $100,000+ annually , with significant earning potential for top performers. This compensation model rewards designers who excel in client relationships, project leadership, sales, and delivering exceptional design outcomes.
