Star Lumber & Supply Co., Inc. delivers confidence through our products and our people. We are seeking a New Home Selection Designer to join our team! Do you have an eye for design? Then we want you... We are looking for a selection designer to help new home customers select tile, flooring, countertops, and other products to meet their design aesthetic, while meeting their budget and project needs. In addition to design this role facilitates various parts of the process from estimating through installation. A Day in the
Showroom Looks Like:
  • Assist new home customers with product selections and design concepts for their floors, wall tile and countertops.
o Read through and interpret blueprints. o Quote estimated pricing during the selection appointment. o Set appropriate expectations about bidding timeline, product performance and installation standards. o Fill out and review selection sheet for accuracy and completeness. o Complete accurate diagrams that communicate the homeowner's vision to the estimators and installers. o Contact homeowners for overage approval.
  • Maintain merchandising standards for the showroom
  • Update pricing on samples and assist with putting new samples on the floor and reorganization of showroom floor.
  • Collaborate with New Construction team to support the overall process.
  • Previous experience working in design or design related sales.
  • Aptitude to communicate effectively.
  • Organized with the ability to manage one's time and tasks.
  • Proficient in math, with the ability make various calculations during design appointments.
  • Aptitude to think critically and problem solve.
  • Proficient in various software applications including Microsoft Excel, Outlook and web based applications.
  • Must be available to work during showroom hours, M-F 8a-6p.
  • Must be 18 years old.
  • Permanent authorization to work in the U.S. Preferred Experience
  • Interior Design degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of the building process
