Job Description
The Position The Lead Interior Designer will play a key role in both the creative and operational sides of Diamonds in the Desert. This individual will work directly with the Founder to develop and execute the creative vision for our projects while taking ownership of the details required to move projects successfully from concept to completion. The ideal candidate combines exceptional design taste with strong technical knowledge, organization, project management skills, and client presence. This is not simply a production design position. We are looking for someone who can lead projects, manage relationships, solve problems, make confident design decisions, and help elevate the overall client experience. Key ResponsibilitiesDesign & Creative Direction
- Work directly with the Founder to develop the overall creative vision and design direction for luxury residential projects.
- Lead projects through all phases of the design process, from initial concept through installation.
- Develop floor plans, furniture plans, elevations, finish selections, material palettes, lighting selections, and design presentations.
- Select and source furniture, lighting, plumbing, hardware, flooring, tile, stone, cabinetry, fabrics, wallcoverings, artwork, and accessories.
- Create sophisticated, cohesive interiors that reflect the Diamonds in the Desert aesthetic: timeless, and sophisticated with an edge.
- Prepare and present design concepts and selections to clients.
- Participate in furniture installations, styling, and final project reveals.
- Continually source new products, artisans, vendors, and unique design resources. Project Leadership
- Take ownership of assigned projects and help drive them from concept through completion.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, specifications, and selection timelines.
- Coordinate closely with architects, builders, contractors, tradespeople, vendors, and installers.
- Attend client meetings, construction meetings, and site visits.
- Review construction progress to ensure the design intent is being properly executed.
- Anticipate challenges and proactively develop solutions before they affect the project.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining a high level of organization and attention to detail. Client Experience
- Build strong, professional relationships with clients and serve as a trusted design resource throughout the project.
- Communicate design concepts and recommendations confidently and professionally.
- Guide clients through decisions while keeping projects aligned with the overall design vision, budget, and schedule.
- Provide the exceptional level of communication, service, and attention to detail expected from a luxury design firm.
- Represent Diamonds in the Desert professionally with clients, vendors, builders, and industry partners. Procurement & Specifications
- Work with the procurement team to ensure accurate specifications, pricing, and purchasing information.
- Request and review quotes, samples, specifications, and lead times.
- Maintain accurate project specifications and product documentation.
- Review orders for accuracy before purchasing.
- Monitor product availability and proactively recommend alternatives when necessary.
- Assist with resolving damages, backorders, substitutions, and other procurement challenges.
- Coordinate with the team on receiving, delivery, and installation schedules. Team Leadership
- Work closely with the Founder and design team to maintain the creative vision and standards of Diamonds in the Desert.
- Provide direction and mentorship to junior designers and design assistants.
- Delegate appropriate project responsibilities while maintaining accountability for the overall project.
- Help establish and improve design processes, standards, and systems as the company grows.
- Foster a collaborative, positive, and solutions-oriented work environment.

The ideal candidate is someone who is both highly creative and exceptionally organized. You should have a strong point of view about design while also understanding that great interior design requires tremendous attention to detail, communication, and execution.- Exceptional taste and a strong understanding of luxury residential interiors.
- Understands construction and can confidently communicate with builders, architects, and trades.
- Can take a project from initial concept through final installation.
- Comfortable presenting ideas and selections directly to clients.
- Proactive and able to anticipate what needs to happen next.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Confident managing multiple projects and deadlines.

- Collaborative and comfortable working closely with a Founder/Principal Designer.

- Wants to be part of building and growing an exceptional design firm. Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional interior design experience preferred, ideally with a high-end residential design firm.
- Demonstrated experience independently managing residential design projects.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating sophisticated residential design work.
- Experience with custom homes, new construction, and large-scale renovations strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of construction documents, floor plans, elevations, specifications, and finish schedules.
- Experience sourcing and specifying furniture, fixtures, lighting, and finishes.
- Proficiency with industry-standard design and presentation software.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience working directly with luxury residential clients preferred.
Pay:
$50,000.00 - $125,000.00 per yearBenefits:
