Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding contract opportunity as a Sign Language Interpreter supporting students in an educational environment near Madison, AL. You'll help foster clear communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and their school community, playing a crucial role in ensuring equal access to learning.
What You'll Bring:
Proven skills as a Sign Language Interpreter Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) Current interpreting certification and/or state licensure, as required Experience working in a school setting or with students preferred Ability to adapt communication style to elementary, middle, or high school levels Strong interpersonal skills, professionalism, and reliability
Key Responsibilities:
Provide accurate interpretation between students, teachers, and staff Facilitate classroom participation for deaf or hard-of-hearing students Interpret conversations during parent meetings, school activities, and events Maintain confidentiality and adhere to the ethical guidelines of interpreting Collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to support student success Assist in a variety of settings including general classroom instruction, assemblies, and extracurriculars
