Job Description Position Title:
Spanish Interpreter Summary:
Communicate intricate health information to patients.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
None Qualifications - Education, Training, Experience and Other Requirements High School Diploma or equivalent Minimum two (2) years of Spanish interpreting experience preferred. Demonstrated ability to read, write and speak English and the language in which interpretation is required via in person, over the telephone, e-mail, web-based information and written materials. Professionalism, punctuality, ability to perform under stress and keep flexible working hours. Good interpersonal and communication skills to function in a multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Greet patients in a professional manner, demonstrating excellent customer service at all times. Interpret in culturally sensitive situations regarding health issues. Assist patients and staff in completing a variety of forms for program eligibility, consent, registration, medical history, as well as in explaining billing practices and fee collection. Interpret information for patients as related to clinical procedures, health & nutrition education, medical treatments or health regulations. Serve patients on the phone and in person; place calls to patients to make/follow-up appointments, assist patients with completing forms and communicates information from and to staff/providers. Translate written health care materials, health education materials and administrative forms from English into target language. Performs other duties as assigned.
