Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
Focus Interpreting is seeking a talented American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter to join our team in Pasadena. In this role, you will facilitate communication between deaf and hearing individuals by accurately interpreting spoken language into ASL and vice versa in various environments.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide professional ASL interpretation services in settings including medical appointments, legal proceedings, educational environments, and community events. Ensure effective communication by interpreting spoken words into ASL and vice versa in real-time. Maintain a high level of confidentiality and uphold professional ethics during all interpretation sessions. Stay informed about developments in ASL and be well-versed in technical vocabulary and culturally relevant topics. Collaborate with clients and professionals to meet specific communication needs and enhance the interpreting experience.
REQUIREMENTS
Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) along with strong English communication skills, both orally and in writing. Certification or qualifications in ASL interpretation is preferred. In-depth understanding of Deaf culture and the nuances of communication within the community. Ability to perform under pressure while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
