Educational Sign Language Interpreter - Stockton, CA
Job Description
Make a meaningful impact supporting students as a Sign Language Interpreter in a dynamic K-12 educational setting for the 2026-2027 school year. Working close to Stockton, CA, you'll help bridge communication between students and educators, empowering learners to access instruction in mainstream classrooms. This contract opportunity offers the chance to work directly 1:1 with students and occasionally provide additional support within the campus as needed.
Key Qualifications:
Valid and current EIPA certification, with a score of 4.0 or higher required Experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter in educational environments strongly preferred Comfortable facilitating communication in general education settings with students who require interpreting support (not related to disabilities) Ability to adapt to various classroom dynamics and collaborate with multiple educators Professionalism, flexibility, and strong communication skills are essentialPrimary Responsibilities:
Deliver direct interpreting services for assigned students within mainstream classes Provide accurate and timely interpretation between spoken English and American Sign Language (ASL) Collaborate with teachers, staff, and support teams to ensure seamless communication access Float to different classrooms or campus areas to support additional needs as determined by the team Maintain student confidentiality and adhere to school policies and interpreting ethics Work a consistent schedule, Monday through Friday, from 7:40 am to 2:00 pm, for approximately 32.5 hours per weekBenefits and Opportunities:
