9672189-90605 Job Description Step into a fulfilling opportunity supporting elementary and middle school students by utilizing your expertise as both a Sign Language Interpreter and Paraprofessional. Located in a vibrant community near Whittier, CA, this contract position promises a rewarding balance of meaningful interaction and consistent scheduling. You will be an essential resource for 5th and 6th graders in an inclusive educational environment, helping facilitate communication and learning for students who are D/deaf or hard of hearing. Your work will be especially impactful as this is an emergency backfill assignment, ensuring continuity for the students you support.

Key Qualifications & Experience:

Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) is required Background or certification in sign language interpretation preferred Previous paraprofessional experience in a school setting is highly desirable Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset Must be able to begin work as soon as possible

Primary Responsibilities:

Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and activities between staff, students, and peers Provide individual or small group support to students, fostering both academic engagement and independence Collaborate with educators to develop strategies for student success Assist with daily transitions and support classroom management when needed Maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times
