The Cultural Mediator & Student Records Support Assistant supports multilingual families, particularly Spanish-speaking, immigrant, and migrant families, by providing interpretation and translation, assisting with student registration and district processes, and connecting families with appropriate resources. In collaboration with the CLD Coordinator, the position also supports student records and multilingual learner identification, including review of new registrations and Home Language Surveys, WIDA screening processes, and related documentation. Professional proficiency in English and Spanish is required.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Family Engagement and Language Access Serve as a liaison between multilingual families, schools, and district staff, with particular support for Spanish-speaking, immigrant, and migrant families. Provide Spanish-English interpretation and translation for school and district communications, meetings, and events. Coordinate interpreter and translation requests as needed. Assist families in navigating enrollment, district processes, Parent Portal, programs, and available resources. Support multilingual family engagement activities and connect families with appropriate district or community resources. Registration, CLD, and Records Support Assist multilingual families with student registration, required documentation, forms, and Parent Portal access. Review new registrations, Home Language Surveys, and available student records to identify students who may require CLD review or WIDA screening. Support the CLD Coordinator with screening, parent notification, documentation, and other multilingual learner identification processes. Maintain and update applicable student records and communicate data or registration concerns to appropriate staff. Assist with CLD and Title III data collection, documentation, and reporting as assigned. General Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when working with student and family information. Perform other related duties as assigned.TECHNICAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Professional oral and written proficiency in English and Spanish, including interpretation and translation. Strong interpersonal and culturally responsive communication skills with diverse students, families, staff, and community members. Strong organizational, time-management, and attention-to-detail skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accurate and confidential student and family records. Ability to work collaboratively with school and district staff. Proficiency with common workplace technology and ability to learn district student information and reporting systems. Familiarity with or willingness to learn multilingual learner identification, WIDA, Home Language Survey, and Title III requirements.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent. Professional proficiency in spoken and written English and Spanish. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students, families, and staff from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.Preferred:
Experience providing interpretation, translation, family outreach, student registration, administrative support, or educational services. Experience working in a K-12 school district or other educational setting. Experience working with multilingual, immigrant, and/or migrant students and families. Experience using a student information system such as Infinite Campus. Knowledge of or experience with multilingual learner programs, WIDA, Title III, or related educational programs.PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Requires the ability to travel to MCSD schools and district locations as needed to provide interpretation, family support, and other services.
