Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract To Hire Step into a rewarding position supporting high school students as a Sign Language Interpreter on a contract-to-hire basis in the Bridgeport, CT region. In this role, you'll be backfilling for an on-site interpreter, ensuring continuity in communication access for a student who relies on sign language interpretation to succeed in the classroom. Your expertise as a Sign Language Interpreter will be highly valued, and you'll play a key part in fostering inclusive learning. Qualifications & Experience:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) required. Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter within a school environment preferred. Familiarity with the needs of high school students. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exhibit professionalism at all times. Certification as an interpreter (such as RID or state equivalent) highly desirable. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide sign language interpretation for a high school student in classroom and school events. Facilitate communication between students, staff, and teachers. Collaborate effectively with educational staff to support the student's unique needs. Maintain accurate records and documentation related to interpreted sessions. Adapt to classroom changes and student requirements as needed. Uphold ethical standards and privacy requirements in line with educational settings.
