Job Description

Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract This opportunity is ideal for a passionate ASL Language Facilitator or Sign Language Interpreter seeking a contract position in a vibrant school setting in Norwalk, CT. The role spans from August 27th, 2026 through June 11th, 2027, offering a full-time schedule of 32.5 hours per week. Responsibilities include providing one-on-one support and tutoring to students, ensuring comprehension of academic material, enhancing ASL communication, and expanding students' ASL vocabulary. Candidates will work closely with diverse learners in an urban school environment, adapting their approach to meet individual student needs. There are two openings available, with one student at the elementary level and the other TBD. Initial interviews will be conducted virtually with the Director and Teacher of the Deaf to determine the best student placement.
Preferred qualifications include:
Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) Experience in a school or educational setting RID (Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf) certification and/or an EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment) score is highly desirable, though not mandatory Strong communication and tutoring skills
