Job Description

Make an immediate impact supporting students as a Sign Language Interpreter in a dynamic school setting near Evans, GA. This contract opportunity focuses on facilitating effective communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and staff, ensuring access to the educational environment and maximizing student success. Ideal candidates bring expertise in American Sign Language (ASL) and demonstrate a commitment to inclusivity and student advocacy. The role offers the chance to work full-time, following the school year calendar.
Qualifications and Experience:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) An EPIA score of 3.5 or higher is required Prior experience providing interpretation in K-12 settings preferred Strong understanding of the interpreters role in an educational context Ability to collaborate with teachers, students, and school staff Professional certification or registry with relevant accrediting bodies is a plus
Key Responsibilities:
Interpret spoken language into ASL and vice versa during classroom instruction, meetings, and other school activities Foster an inclusive, accessible learning atmosphere for students with hearing loss Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards in line with interpreter guidelines Partner with educators, therapists, and administrators to support student learning plans Participate in ongoing professional development as required
