Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Step into a dynamic school-based environment as a Sign Language Interpreter, where your expertise will play a crucial role in supporting communication and educational access for students who are deaf or hard of hearing. As a full-time team member, you'll collaborate with educators and staff to ensure students have the resources they need to succeed throughout the full school year.
Key Qualifications:
Hold an EIPA score of 3.5 or above Proficiency in American Sign Language and ability to interpret in an educational setting Experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter within schools is strongly preferred Ability to maintain confidentiality and foster trust with students and staff Professional, flexible, and adaptable to meet diverse classroom needs
Primary Responsibilities:
Interpret spoken language into sign language (and vice versa) for students, teachers, and school staff during classroom instruction, assemblies, meetings, and extracurricular activities Facilitate smooth communication between students, staff, and peers, ensuring inclusivity and active participation in all aspects of school life Collaborate with classroom teachers and special education staff to adapt communication methods and support individualized learning Accurately and sensitively relay spoken and signed messages without altering meaning or intent You'll be valued as an important contributor, making a difference each day while enjoying the structure and balance of a contract assignment.
