In this full-time, full-school-year contract position, youll play an essential role facilitating communication for students who are deaf or hard of hearing, helping them thrive academically and socially. Your talents will bridge classroom learning and foster an inclusive environment for students and staff alike. Candidates with experience in educational interpreting who are eager to make a difference will feel valued in this setting.
Qualifications:
EPIA (Educational Performance Interpreter Assessment) score of 3.5 or higher required Proven proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) Experience serving as a Sign Language Interpreter in school settings preferred Familiarity with IEPs and supporting students with diverse communication needs Ability to collaborate with educators, students, and families Professional demeanor and excellent communication skills
Role Responsibilities:
Provide clear and accurate interpretation between spoken English and ASL for students, staff, and families Support access to classroom instruction, assemblies, and school activities Collaborate closely with teachers and team members to meet students' communication needs Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional codes of conduct Adjust interpreting to fit the instructional content and age level of students Participate in IEP meetings, workshops, and ongoing training as needed Experience the rewards of seeing students succeed thanks to your commitment and skill set!
