Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Make a difference each day by supporting students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing as a contract Sign Language Interpreter in a vibrant school setting. Your expertise will ensure that educational content is fully accessible and engaging. This full-time, in-person opportunity is located near Bolingbrook, IL, and offers a meaningful 1:1 experience with a student, starting as soon as possible.
Key Qualifications:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL); certification or endorsement as a Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) required Previous experience providing sign language interpretation in a school setting preferred Strong communication skills, patience, and flexibility Ability to collaborate effectively with educators, staff, and families Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and upholding ethical standards
Primary Responsibilities:
Deliver accurate, confidential interpretation between spoken English and ASL throughout the school day Facilitate communication for a student in various classroom settings, complying with Individualized Education Program (IEP) requirements Collaborate with teachers and related service providers to support instructional goals and student engagement Assist with adapting materials or instruction to optimize comprehension for the assigned student Maintain accurate records and document services as needed Uphold professional conduct and promote a supportive learning environment
