Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract A contract position is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to provide essential support to students in an educational setting located in Cicero, IL. This role supports both Extended School Year (ESY) and Non-School Year (NSY) services, ensuring effective communication access and hearing itinerant services for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Responsibilities include:

Delivering Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) services during the regular school year, providing 330 minutes per day of full-day interpreter support. Providing Hearing Itinerant (HI) services with 100 minutes per week of direct intervention and 180 minutes per month of consultative support. Offering ESY services from June 15, 2026, through July 24, 2026, Monday through Friday, with 1100 minutes per week of interpreter services. Conducting HI services during ESY with 100 minutes per week of direct support and 75 minutes per month of consult. Collaborating with school staff and families to facilitate communication and ensure educational access for students who are deaf or hard of hearing. Maintaining accurate documentation and participating in team meetings as required.

Desired qualifications and experience:

Certification or proven proficiency as a Sign Language Interpreter. Experience working in educational settings providing SLI and HI services. Ability to manage time effectively and deliver services across varying schedules. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work with students, educators, and families. Knowledge of best practices in deaf education and interpreting.
