Located near Joliet, IL, this school-based role ensures a positive, engaging environment where your skills make a difference every single day. The workday runs from 7:45am to 2:45pm, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch—making this an ideal schedule for those seeking work-life balance within a school setting.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and strong interpreting skills Previous experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter in educational environments, especially with DHH students Comfortable facilitating one-on-one communication between student and staff Ability to collaborate with educators and support staff to enhance the student's academic and social experience Certification or state licensure for Sign Language Interpreters preferred Professionalism and sensitivity in an academic setting
Key Responsibilities:
Provide seamless, accurate interpretation for one DHH student during classes, activities, and interactions throughout the school day Assist with classroom instruction and foster full participation of the student in all educational activities Collaborate with teachers and staff to ensure accessible learning and communication Maintain confidentiality and support a nurturing, inclusive learning environment Address the unique needs and progress of the student, adapting interpreting style as necessary
