Job Description
Step into an essential role supporting student success as a Sign Language Interpreter in a school setting near Oak Forest, IL. This contract opportunity runs from July 29, 2026, through May 25, 2027, and involves providing interpretation services for students and staff to ensure effective communication and equal access within the educational environment. With a set schedule of 5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, and two openings available, this position is perfect for interpreters seeking meaningful, consistent work in education. To be considered for this rewarding opportunity, you'll need: A current Illinois SLI License issued through ISBE Professional experience interpreting for children or adolescents in educational settings (preferred) Mastery of expressive and receptive American Sign Language skills Strong ability to collaborate with teachers, aides, and educational teams Commitment to upholding confidentiality and ethics per industry standards Key responsibilities will include: Facilitating communication between students who are deaf or hard of hearing, their peers, and staff Interpreting classroom discussions, assemblies, and school events Assisting with IEP meetings or other related services as needed Supporting students' social and academic growth through clear, accurate interpretation Adhering to school policies and fostering an inclusive, respectful learning environment This position offers a competitive pay rate of $31-33 per hour, with the added benefits of weekly pay, comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and life insurance options, a matching 401k, and flexible spending accounts.
