9657543-60085 Job Description Empower students across multiple districts near Waukegan, IL, supporting their education and communication needs as a Sign Language Interpreter. In this full-time contract role for the school year, you'll provide vital interpreting services throughout Lake County, traveling to various schools to assist students ranging from early childhood through 12th grade. Youll collaborate closely with educators and specialized staff, ensuring students who are deaf or hard of hearing have equal access to learning and meaningful engagement in school activities. Your commitment to fostering inclusion will enhance communication and understanding in every classroom you visit.

What were seeking:

Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and experience in an educational setting Previous work as a Sign Language Interpreter, preferably in schools Ability to adapt communication style to suit diverse age groups (EC12th grade) Strong organizational skills, as the role will require travel between multiple school sites Commitment to confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions Role responsibilities: Provide sign language interpretation for students and staff during classes, school events, and meetings Travel to different districts within Lake County as needed throughout the school year Support communication between students, peers, and teachers across a caseload of approximately 12 to 18 students Participate in team meetings to support student IEPs and coordinate services Ensure a supportive, inclusive environment for all students The position follows a consistent weekday schedule from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm, with a guaranteed 7.5-hour workday including lunch.
