Desired Experience and Qualifications:

Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) Experience interpreting in educational settings, preferably with DHH students Knowledge of Deaf culture and best practices for working with DHH children Ability to interpret classroom instruction and conversations in real time Certification or licensure for educational interpreting (preferred) Strong interpersonal skills and professionalism

Key Responsibilities:

Provide on-site interpretation services for a DHH student at a Head Start center Facilitate clear communication between the student, educators, and peers Attend to the student's needs during the school day, from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm Support classroom participation, understanding of lessons, and social interaction Adapt communication methods as necessary for the age and needs of the student Collaborate with classroom staff to ensure a positive and inclusive environment
