Responsibilities:

Provide high-quality sign language interpretation for students in educational settings Collaborate with teachers and staff to facilitate communication and ensure accessibility Support evaluations and Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students requiring sign language services Offer communication assistance for students with hearing loss or limited/verbal communication needs Adapt interpretation methods to match student age, skill level, and program requirements Maintain accurate and confidential records regarding student progress and communication needs Foster an inclusive, supportive classroom environment

Desired Experience and Qualifications:

Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) Experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, ideally in a school or educational setting SLI (Sign Language Interpreter) level certification required to support evaluative processes Understanding of working with students with diverse communication needs, including those in SAILS and STEPs programs Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with educational staff Strong communication, organizational skills, and adaptability Those with between 0-3 years of experience are compensated at a competitive hourly rate, with increased rates for interpreters with 4-6 years and 7+ years of experience.
