Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Make a profound impact supporting students with unique communication needs in an educational setting. We are seeking a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to serve in-person or in a hybrid arrangement, providing essential interpretation in a classroom environment at least four days a week. This role will support both students with hearing loss and those with limited or no verbal communication abilities, particularly within specialized programs designed to promote independence and inclusion. What you'll bring: Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in school settings SLI certification/qualification appropriate for educational interpretation 0-3 years of experience (recent graduates welcome), additional consideration for applicants with 4-6 years or 7+ years of interpreting experience Ability to facilitate communication for students with diverse levels of hearing and communication abilities Comfort with in-person work, with flexibility for hybrid as needed Knowledge of best practices supporting evaluations and individualized learning plans Responsibilities include: Interpret classroom activities, instructions, and student interactions Collaborate with educators and program staff to improve accessibility in the SAILS and STEPs programs Assist in evaluating students' communication needs and progress Adapt signing style to meet individual student requirements Foster student engagement and participation In this contract position, you'll play a vital role as the bridge between students and their learning environment, helping each student access their education fully.
