This contract role provides the opportunity to deliver essential communication support to students in the New Orleans area, making a direct impact on their academic success. Beginning as soon as possible and continuing through the end of May 2027, youll work a consistent, full-time schedule of 35 hours per week in alignment with the academic calendar. Assignments may involve one or more campuses, and caseload specifics will be determined upon placement.

Essential qualifications and experience:

EIPA score of 4.0 or higher, including written portion Listed on the Louisiana Interpreter Registry (LCDC Interpreter Registry - Dept. of Health); RID and NIC certifications also accepted with written component Prior experience providing VOCO sign language interpreting services in educational settings Comfortable working with high school age students in virtual environments Proven ability to adapt interpreting techniques to varied classroom needs Strong communication and collaboration skills Primary responsibilities: Interpret lectures, discussions, and classroom activities virtually for students who are Deaf or hard of hearing Collaborate with educators and staff to ensure full student participation Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and adherence to all state and district guidelines Adjust interpreting style to meet the needs of individual students Document interpreting services in accordance with school policies This role is well-suited to professionals looking to balance meaningful work with a flexible contract schedule and a rewarding, student-centered atmosphere.
