Job Description

Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding contract opportunity as an ASL Interpreter for the upcoming 2026-2027 academic year. Support students by providing essential American Sign Language interpretation services in school settings, fostering understanding and access to educational content. This role is best suited for professionals passionate about bridging communication gaps and enhancing the learning experience for deaf and hard-of-hearing students.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) Previous experience interpreting in educational environments preferred National or state interpreter certification highly desirable Professionalism, adaptability, and strong organizational skills Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, students, and school staff Flexibility to adjust interpreting styles as needed for K-12 settings
Key Responsibilities:
Provide real-time ASL interpretation during classroom instruction, assemblies, and school events Collaborate closely with educators to ensure lesson content is accessible Adjust interpreting techniques to suit student needs and comprehension levels Support students in understanding assignments, discussions, and assessments Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in interpreting Participate in meetings with educational professionals to discuss and enhance student support Assist in promoting a positive and inclusive classroom environment
