Parent Educator -
Trauma-Informed Parenting Location:
Parish-based within region (St. Tammany, Washington, Tangipahoa, Livingston, or St. Helena)Employment Type:
Part-time, Contract Rate:
$25-30/hour DOE Help parents build skills that change family futures. The Family Village is seeking Parent Educators to deliver our Trauma-Informed Parenting program to birth parents. This role is ideal for community leaders, mentors, or professionals who are passionate about family reunification. While a specific degree is not required, we are looking for individuals with the life experience, maturity, and specific skillset necessary to guide families through the foster care process. Parent Educators can lead as little as one cohort per week or more depending on availability. What You'll Do Facilitate weekly in-person group parenting classes as needed (up to 10 participants, 3 hours each). Provide one-on-one parent coaching sessions (1 hour each). Teach The Family Village's trauma-informed parenting framework in your assigned parish.Track Progress:
Complete our internal reporting templates documenting attendance and parent growth to assist our team in finalizing DCFS summaries. Create a safe, respectful environment that supports parent learning and growth. What We're Looking For We prioritize your ability to connect with parents and handle complex family dynamics over formal titles. Proven Experience withDiverse Families:
You must have a track record of working effectively with families across different backgrounds.Socioeconomic & Cultural Sensitivity:
You understand how class systems, religious differences, and varying standards of living impact a parent's journey. You are compassionate toward parents working to get their children back. The "Balance": You have the emotional intelligence to know when to be deeply sensitive to a parent's trauma and when to hold them accountable to the changes required for a safe home.Trauma-Informed Lens:
A solid understanding of how trauma affects behavior, learning, and the ability to parent.Bilingual Skills:
The ability to speak more than one language (specifically Spanish) is a significant plus.Logistics:
