Job Description

Step into a meaningful opportunity supporting high school students as a Sign Language Interpreter in a vibrant community near Metairie, LA. This full-time contract role is dedicated to bridging communication gaps for high schoolers throughout the school year. The position aligns with the academic calendar, running from ASAP through May 27, 2027, and follows a 35-hour workweek, Monday through Friday.
Qualifications and Experience:
EIPA score of 4.0 (performance and written required) and listed on the Louisiana Interpreter Registry (LCDC Interpreter Registry - Dept. of Health) RID or NIC certifications also accepted, but must include the required written portion Demonstrated experience in virtual interpreting platforms (VOCO experience essential) Background supporting high school-aged students preferred Flexible regarding number of assigned school sites (to be determined)

Facilitate seamless communication for high school students during classes and school activities via sign language interpretation Adapt interpretation style to accommodate a variety of academic subjects and student needs Work closely with teachers, support staff, and administrators to help students fully access their educational experience Maintain timely and accurate documentation in alignment with school compliance standards Contribute to a supportive, inclusive environment where every student can thrive Expect a collaborative atmosphere focused on academic achievement and equity for all students.
